It's Happened Again

OK, in my defense, at least it wasn't nearly a whole year that passed by before writing a new post... just a month! :)

Jared and I went out saturday night to celebrate Valentine's Day (I had to work late on V-Day) so we went to Huntsville to eat dinner and to see "Safe Haven" at the Monaco.  It was such a good movie... even Jared loved it!  Of course I didn't take ANY pictures even though I was wearing a super cute outfit... why does that always happen?!

My dad recently took a job in Gulfport, MS (which is about 7 hours away) and my mom, brother, sister-in-law, and Luke went to see him this past weekend.  Since it was a long weekend (for almost everyone but ME) they got to enjoy the beach and visit my dad.  Here are a few pics from them this weekend:

This video cracks me up because we nickname Luke "No Tears Tapscott"... he is such a good fake crier... he gets it from his (grand)mama... his Nana is super dramatic.. in the best way possible! :)  Anyway, this is such a prime example.  I could just squeeze him (in a non-creepy way!).

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Weekend Re-Cap

On Friday night, I went to visit my mom in Decatur and got to see my nephew Luke, my brother Wes and my aunt Sara.  She came in town from Birmingham.  My mom cooked some delicious chicken chili and we enjoyed spending time together and loving on Luke!

I had to work Saturday (I typically work one saturday a month) and then went and helped my aunts and cousins clean out my grandfather's house.  After that, we had our monthly family get-together and ate dinner at a local mexican restaurant.  Our family LOVES mexican food!  Here are some pics of my precious family.

After that, I got together with my boyfriend, Jared.  We ran some errands...went to Academy to look for some ammo, went to TJ Maxx to buy some pots and pans and then went back to visit with my aunt and my mom.

On Sunday, we got really busy working on cleaning out my grandfather's house... I feel like we have gotten a lot accomplished.

While at my grandfather's house, we had a surprise visitor... Luke!!  I just love this little boy so much!!  Doesn't he look fabulous in his cable knit sweater and blue jeans?? :)

And just for fun..we put a bow in his hair to see what he would look like as a girl....

Yep, still cute!!

We found some really special things while cleaning.  One of which was a heart shaped locket with a picture of my grandfather in the war.  It was very old and was so precious.  I love antique jewelry... especially items in the family!  My grandmother literally had 20 or more watches and I also picked out a really pretty, very old Bulova watch.  It needs a new battery, but right now I'm wearing it as a bracelet until I have time to get a new battery for it.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Friday Favorites

This week I'm going to be talking about something I'm really good at... fashion!  Here are 3 of my obsessions this week...

1.  Hue Denim Leggings... these things have changed my life.  OK, maybe not changed my life, but they sure have made my life more comfortable.  These are awesome and they're thick enough that you can wear a shorter top with them.

Click here to order and read more information

2.  Victoria's Secret Wide Strap Bra Tops-  These go PERFECTLY with the leggings listed above.  Give me a pair of leggings, this tank, a cardigan a scarf and a pair of boots and I've got my fall/winter wardrobe!

for some reason, it wouldn't let me upload a picture of these tops, so click here to see these fabulous tank tops.  I probably have 10 of these.

3.  Frye Boots-  Last year, I broke down and bought my first pair of Frye boots.  Typically, I do not like to spend that much money on a pair of shoes, but I have really gotten my money's worth... they really are an investment!  The pair I bought last year are cowboy boots and this year I went with a pair of riding boots.  I seriously wear my new riding boots at least 4-5 times a week.  They're awesome.  I LOVE wearing them with black!  The contrast is perfect.  I have the Melissa Button in Cognac.

What's In My Bag

One of my favorite articles in UsWeekly Magazine is the "What's In My Bag" article..  Maybe it's because I'm super nosy...maybe it's because I like to see what kind of gum Lauren Conrad prefers... whatever the reason, I LOVE reading it every week.   I thought it might be fun to do a "What's In My Bag" post for you.

Here's My Bag...

Here's what's inside my bag..

My iPad with my favorite Michael Kors patent leather and gold case

And here is everything else in my bag....

From Left, Chanel Sunglasses Case (I bought these on a whim at the Saks in NewOrleans last January), Vera Bradley medicine bag (I keep lipstick, bobby pins, medicine, etc in there), Vera Bradley Wallet, Kate Spade Keychain/ID holder, pink camo Buck knife (Christmas present from my dad!), pink chevron stripe hair tie (I always carry these around!), Ice Breakers sugar-free mints, pink B&B works hand sanitizer with pink rhinestones, B&B hand cream and some benadryl.  That's what's in my bag today!!

Friday Favorites

One of my favorite blogs, Pinterest Told Me To, features a post every Friday and she highlights 3 of her favorite things...let me tell you, I have found some AWESOME items from her list.  I decided to do the same thing on my blog.  Each week I'll cover various topics...from beauty to fashion to books.... this week I'll start with beauty...

1.  Nars Lip Gloss in Sweet Dreams

I think this color is one of those universal colors that really does look great on anyone... any skin tone, hair color, etc... this will look good on you!  It is pinkish-gold and has just the right amount of shimmer.  It looks great alone or over your favorite lipstick. Click here to see more details

2. Benefit Erase Paste Concealer

This stuff is awesome.  I have dark circles underneath my eyes...I get PLENTY of sleep every night (I'm talking 8-10 hours) but for some reason I can't get rid of the dark circles.  I have tried EVERY type of concealer, from drugstore products to really expensive products.  What sold me on this one was that the lady at the make-up counter said that people have used this to cover up tattoos! That's pretty hardcore!  Click here to get more information

3.  Benefit "They're Real!" Mascara

This mascara first peaked my interest when I saw that Emily Maynard used it.  I LOVE Emily, so naturally I want to try the products that she uses.  Let me tell you, you will not be disappointed with this mascara...it is life-changing!  OK, that might be a little dramatic, but seriously..this stuff is good!!  I'm a big fan of Benefit products.  Click here to see more details

Happy Friday!!!

Diary of a Mad Fat Girl

I decided to start WeightWatchers on Sunday, after weighing myself and being completely horrified at the number staring back at me.  I never realized how badly I was eating and how the food choices I made daily were affecting my body.

A year ago, I was roughly 40 pounds lighter.. I have been on and off a bunch of different medications and that was cause for SOME of the weight gain, but really..it all falls on me.  I have let myself go and now it's time to get myself back.  I feel GREAT after 5 days... day 2, 3 and 4... I was mainly STARVING but today I feel better.  I cheated and weighed myself on Tuesday, and I was down 2 pounds.. I'm sure that will fluctuate, but it sure did feel great to see a decrease in my weight!!  I am excited to start this journey and I really hope I can stick with it and be successful.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a very safe and happy New Year's Eve and New Year's Day!!  Did you all do anything fun?  I don't mean to sound like a downer, but I've always hated New Year's Day..It was ingrained in me at a very early age that NYD sucks, and I kind of agree. No good TV is on and seems like there's nothing to do except take down your Christmas decorations (unless you are Jared, in which case, they will stay up until after Valentine's Day).  Ok, sorry for being a downer.  I was sick on New Year's Eve but decided to go out for a little while with Jared.. we went to the Marriott and had dinner and sat outside on the patio and watched the LSU/Clemson game on the TVs out there.

Like I previously said, I usually hate New Year's Day, but this year.. it was great!  I got to see all 3 of my favorite boys!! :)
